第四十八回研究会で、K先生が「老化する身体」について話されました。とても重要な
内容なので英訳してみました。先生、並びに古参の方々のご叱正を賜れば幸甚です。
                 
At the 48th workshop, Sensei told us about "the body to be aged". As a beginne

@ To do that, you need to create your own body. You need to make your own
feeling.
@ For that purpose, it is best to practice alone. And sometimes you have to
check it with your teacher.

Question: Even if I intend to walk straight, it will result in bending.
Sensei: In order to correct it, you can do exercise to make a body of Aiki,
practice gymnastics using short stick used in Tai Chi, practice
walking method and practice sword. By doing such a practice you will
find answers from within.

Question: One day, I suddenly notice the result.
Sensei: That is right. There is no other way. No matter how much teacher you
talk, how much you read books, such technology will not be transmitted
.

@ So, besides the method of checking your own body yourself, there is a way
to see your body mirrored in the mirror. But do not look at yourself
reflected in the mirror from the beginning, first make it inside of yoursel
f,
then stand in front of the mirror, tell the mirror what to do with this.
See from then.
@ So first check your body with breathing.
@ If you cannot breathe properly or you cannot exhale, it is a problem before

seeing your body in the mirror.

Question: First of all, I make a body to some extent on my own. And Sensei
confirms the contents. Should I repeat this?
Sensei: That's right. It is important to notice your own body's aging on your
own. Even if you consult the doctor after aging of the body advances,
the doctor cannot take measures.

@ And how to delay the body's aging is important. You only have to realize
this on your own.

Question: Mr. F's attitude in the dojo is always beautiful. I also want to
keep that attitude.
Sensei: You have to devise yourself by looking at such things. However, the
shape is not the same, and the age is different. My goal is to slow
down how the posture collapses due to aging of the body.

Question: Does the posture of human’s collapse trying to ease?
Sensei: No, it is not. You should know that it will not be easy if human
posture collapses.

Question: Is it because the human back is turning to an easy posture?
Sensei: wrong. It cannot be easy.

Question: As aging progresses, humans will open their feet and walk.
Sensei: That's right.

Question: It looks like a toddler walking toddler.
Sensei: That's right. Even people doing martial arts will do so.

Question: Why?
Sensei: So long ago, it is mysterious that "When I was born it was four-fold,
it got up and started walking with two legs and then died." But that
is one reason.

Question: Do you slow down the body's aging rapidly?
Sensei: That's right. In order to delay the aging of the body even a little,
you only have to realize it for yourself.

@ So, Velden-Kreis uses the word "awareness".
@ There is no other way besides noticing that way.
@ That's right, but no matter how much you do it in your own habit.
@ That is what I call "monono-kuu". In other words, you did not step out of
yourself.
@ I think that such principle will be conveyed by directing the body to a
wider range of "Shinkuunogi".
@ In that sense, you can adjust your body. When you adjust your body, the
way you take the skill changes.
@ So, by repeating such things, "How do you change yourself?"
@ That's why you should be careful when others see it. Well that's it.

宗匠記事に付随した世話役さんのコメント「型のみに執着する人、云々」は
興味深い内容です。拙文ながら英訳しましたので 先生、並びに古参の方々の
ご叱正を賜れば幸甚です。


A word from the caretaker

According to the explanation of the divination authority, Straw ropes
in the shrine representclouds. The dropped paper represents thunder.
And the rain falls towards people.That way you have a proper order.

Rain is water drops falling from the sky. It cools down in places where
the water vapor in the atmosphere is high, it condenses and falls as
water droplets. In that way it is going down steadily.

"Sky" which is atmospheric water vapor corresponds to "step method"
performed in the dojo. "Clouds" formed by gathering steam corresponds
to the "intangible" stance、"scale" by Swordsmanship. "Thunder" where
the cloud gathers and calls for rain is equivalent to thestance of
"cutting Aya" and "Raitou" done by swordsmanship. In Japanese it is
pronounced that it will rain "furu". Pronounce swinging, in Japanese,
"furu". Both will pronounce "furu", it is probably just saying "aiki" of
"furu" uniform.

There are signs of clouds and thunder in the shrine, but there is no
sign of rain. When asking the priest reason why,
The shrine calls clouds and thunder. However, there is no rain left.

In other words, it depends on your own method of passing.Therefore, the
shrines and temples are not places to pray for their own wishes, but they
are places to evaluate by asking God and Buddha about their way of doing
things.

It is the same as thinking that you can get rain at a shrine to remember
the fixed type of swordsmanship and aiki.

Again, the clouds and lightning that people can see are "signs" of the
shrine. What God gives to human beings is real rain and the grace of
that rain, which is invisible to the human eye. For example, it is like
a fishing gear shop. The fishing equipment store puts tools and food for
fishing, but they do not sell fish. People who stick to remembering a
certain type of swordsmanship or aikido are those who are satisfied with
collecting fishing tools and do not try to fish.

Therefore, in regular dojo practice, there is no form training. You will
practice with the following menu.

1 Step method
 ・ Turn arm with nothing.
・ Hold a short rod in both hands and move forward while turning.
・ Hold a sword in both hands and move forward while turning.
・ Hold a short rod in both hands and move forward while turning it
slightly.
・ Hold a sword in both hands and move forward while rotating
slightly.
・ Hold a short stick in both hands and keep moving forward without
rotating.
・ Hold a sword with both hands and keep moving forward without
rotating.

2 Sword stepping
・ Hold a single sword with both hands and advance while keeping
the Mukei form.
・ Advance while swinging a sword in the form of Aya.
・ Advance while swinging the sword with the form to cut at the
front.

第四十五回研究会稽古メモを
英訳してみました。先生、並びに古参の方々のご叱正を賜れば幸甚です。


The 45th workshop practice note

1.When the opponent grasps both wrists, it reflects the opponent's
force by internal body manipulation.
2.Grab the opponent's wrists and destroy the other's posture through
internal body manipulation.
3.When the opponent and I grasp both ends of the short rod, it breaks
down the other's posture by internal body manipulation.
4.When the opponent and I pinched both ends of the stick with a shoulder
or stomach, the opponent's posture is broken down by internal body
manipulation.

5.Using Iaido sword in the sheath to practice seven kinds of swing.
6.Practice swinging of Enpi type while keeping your feet moving with
Iaido sword in the sheath.

In the first half, we practiced training the condition of the body so
that centering breathing method can be performed from head to foot
using body techniques and tools.
In the latter half, using Iaido sword in the sheath, we practiced to
experience that the sword and body coincided by being accompanied by
the weight.
It was a practice to go back to the basics that we only carefully
perceive changes in the balance of the body but there is no other way.
We are thankful to Sensei who carefully taught us even though it is
hot and to everyone who participated in the lesson.


A word from the caretaker

The main point of the first half is that even if you grasp the
opponent's wrist you can respond with by internal body manipulation
even if your wrist is grasped from the other.
I think that there is a place where the sword 's rationalism leads
to the aiki there.

The 44th workshop practice note

① The theme of this workshop was the word "Gankyo Bappai".
It is a way to expand the backbone gently and crosswise.
② In a standing posture, when enemy pushes both shoulders from
the back, it rebounds the enemy by using the Shoulder Aikido
which stretches the elbow.
③ In a sitting posture, when enemy pushes both shoulders from
the front, it breaks enemy to the left and right by using the
Shoulder Aikido.
④ In a sitting posture, when enemy pushes both shoulders from
the front, grip the enemy's forearm lightly and splash the
enemy by using the Shoulder Aikido.
⑤ In a sitting posture, when enemy pushes both shoulders from
the front, put the palm around the enemy's upper arm and
repel the enemy.
⑥ In a sitting posture, when enemy grips both wrists from the
front, it stretches out like a pair of palms are fitted
together, and reverses the enemy to the left and right while
inverting the palm of the hand.
⑦ In a sitting posture, when enemy grips both wrists from the
front, it breaks down the enemy while taking off both wrists
toward the enemy's.

~Break~

? Using the bag bamboo sword and practicing Tengusho of swing.
? Have the opponent hold the bag bamboo sword horizontally.
This is called a sword stick.
In the posture of Raito, strike down the bag bamboo sword against
the sword stick of the other. Then, put the bag Bamboo sword on
the other sword stick to break the opponent.
? Using the bag bamboo sword and practicing Shitsuraito of swing.
? Using Iaido sword and practicing seven kinds of swing

The theme of this workshop was the word "Bappai". While doing the
teaching which Sensei always said, we did Jiu-jitsu that can throw
but not dare to throw, swordsmanship that can shake but does not shake.

Stand up the neck.
Extract useless power from the body.
Loosen your back and stretch it.
Then, tell the force from the pelvis and lower body to the contact
point.

Please repeatedly remember what you learned at this workshop and
practice yourself.
And create such a body that you can use Jiu-jitsu can throw but not
dare to throw、and swordsmanship that can shake but does not shake
at any time.

The 42nd workshop practice note

◯ We learned about the three kinds of meridians inside the legs.

1 Meridians leading to the kidneys, meridians leading to the liver,
and meridians connected to the spleen are conscious.

2 First, sit on the floor with a sitting posture. Then it slightly
warps in the backward direction. Then straighten out the rectus
abdominis.
Next, extend the index finger in the internal binding posture.
Then stretch your hands over your heads with signs with your
index fingers.

3 Three types of meridians in the thigh are conscious. Then, we
recognize how each meridian relates to breathing and the body.
When breathing in a state where the body is warped in the backward
direction, confirm how each meridian is different.


◯ Practice to pull out a sword while conscious of three types of
meridians in the thigh.

1 Relationship between right hand and sword when sword is pulled out.
A sword is caught by the hypothenar ball and on the base of the
thumb.

2 When bringing the body back and forth, its depth, stretching of
the body, breathing together.

3 Do not adjust the angle or the position when the body is moved back
and forth with the muscular strength on the surface of the body.
Instead, it moves with the feeling of trunk which was supervised
by breathing.

4 With the posture of Raitou, attach one knee to the floor, and
advance or retreat the body.
At this time, use the depth of three kinds of meridians in the
groin area and the space set with Raitou.


◯ Using Iaido sword and practicing seven kinds of swing
If you use three kinds of meridians, you can create a third axis
for the sword.


◯ Practice of Enkai, Konotekashiwa, and Suishasei postures with
a stick.

As a matter of course, I think why I did not notice. I noticed that
I could never cut with a line to cut the space.
We have received guidance from Sensei at the workshop practice.

The 41st workshop practice note

We warned at this workshop not to become the wrong practice method
as follows.
How to find the number of lessons ignoring changing feeling,
Practice method of seeking only self-sense of fulfillment
unconsciously.

In this workshop, we practiced with a theme of carefully slowly
gradually. So first of all, what kind of state is your body is.
And we learned how it will change.


1.Thinking how to raise your feet while lying on your back on
the floor
2.Hitting from Hassou stance
3.Orishiki stance
4.Train the Fure-aiki with the palm of your hand sandwiched
5.Breathe in, to relax breath, take a breath. Training to
raise and lower the sword according to this rhythm.

※It is not bad for asking for the number of practice or being
insensitive.

Even if you can understand it, if you cannot express it with
your body, you have to practice repeatedly Is required.
Also, it is necessary to become insensitive if you are
over-sensitized.
Also, it is also a bad practice to think that you must
definitely change something.
This is an important point that we must be careful including
our own commandments.

Many people including first-time people, beginners, experienced
people and others participated in this lesson and became a very
lively. Thank you very much.

Let's practice while each one chews the meaning of the word of
Sensei "There is only an answer within yourself".
